About

Hi! I’m an Austin-based cinematographer drawn to intimate, poetic, lyrical projects.

Creative Process

My approach has deep roots in painting traditions in terms of how I see lighting and composition, bringing a thoughtful sensibility to each production and director collaboration. At the heart of my practice lies a passion for uncovering the beauty in everyday moments—finding extraordinary visual possibilities in ordinary surroundings.

Collaboration Philosophy

The most enjoyable part of the process for me is the creative collaboration with the team as we define and discover the emotional, visual language that will create the most memorable connection with the viewer. This foundation ensures that on set, our decisions come from a place of utmost intention and teamwork—I firmly believe the total is greater than the sum of its parts.

Select Clients

I've worked with clients including Bose, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Louis Vuitton, Verizon, Meta, and Warner Music. My projects have screened and won awards across all continents, with a recent commercial earning Ad Age Editor's Pick recognition. I've worked across the US, in South America, Asia, and Europe.

Background and Influences

Growing up between Perú and San Francisco—and later spending a decade in Madrid—shaped my cinematographic approach. I was constantly surrounded by the works of the old master painters, which deeply influenced how I see. Later, working alongside Terrence Malick on his editing team helped me refine that visual language even further, especially in terms of rhythm and tone.

Before entering film, I performed professionally as a Latin American musician and played flamenco guitar in Spain. I live in Austin with my wife and our two girls, and while on the road, I carry a travel sketchbook where I capture fellow travelers at airports in ink and watercolor.
